Renaissance, director Ben Rowarth, presents a visual and musical journey through the sixteenth century taking the audience from the penitential world of English sacred music, into the sensual and intimate European settings of ‘The Song of Songs’, through to the stunningly passionate Italian madrigals of Monteverdi and finishing with moving reflections on love, life and death. These varied and fascinating works are drawn together with brand new composition by Ben Rowarth that takes inspiration from other works and ideas that feature throughout the programme.

This staged performance will use space to exciting effect and give the listener an insight into the true context of some of the finest Renaissance vocal music: outside of the choir stalls, and in its original, intimate and intense setting.

This performance will start at 7pm.
